Nelson Headed South To A-10

Courtney Nelson can feel relieved. After narrowing his school focus to Richmond, Seton Hall and Dayton, he's made a decision.

The Richmond Spiders are doing work in the Northeast. Since the arrival of Gary DeCesare as an assistant, Richmond has made a concentrated effort to work DeCesare's NYC-area roots. On Wednesday, they mined a little more talent from the area.

Bloomfield (NJ) Tech guard Courtney Nelson committed to the Spiders. "It just felt right and they were offering me the opportunity I wanted," Nelson said. Seton Hall and Dayton were the two other finalists.

Nelson was quick to credit DeCesare with playing a key role in his recruitment. "He played a big role. I knew him before he went to Richmond and he's got a good reputation and he's known for winning."

Nelson was attracted to the school largely because he thought the Spiders would put him in a good position as a combo guard. He's got a knack for scoring and has always played on successful teams.
