From Nowhere to Mid-Major

The 6-7 power forward from Las Vegas, Devan Evans, was unknown just a few months ago, but now has a group of west coast mid-majors recruiting him from the Mountain West and Big West. He has two favorites...

Devan Evans, 6-7 SR PF, Las Vegas (Nev.) Chaparral, went from unknown in the winter, noticed in the spring, to now being recruited by mid-majors in the summer.

Evans, with a good body and athleticism, has been hearing from many schools, but among those he likes are Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Nevada, San Diego State and Long Beach State.

He said he is probably leaning toward San Diego State and Long Beach State. "I have family in Southern California, in the Long Beach area," Evans said. "So it would make it good for me to go to those two schools."

If either San Diego State or Long Beach State offered Evans a scholarship he said it'd be hard to turn either down. "I like both of those schools. If either offered, I'd probably commit to the first one that offered."

Evans said he has a 2.6 GPA and will take the SAT in the fall.
