Benjamin Picks Big East School

Keith Benjamin is off the board. The Mount Vernon guard made it official on Saturday night and he'll play his college ball in the Big East.

Keith Benjamin is headed to Villanova and in case you don't believe us, well, just watch MSG Saturday night or Sunday morning in New York as his commitment is being carried on the New York-area station.

Benjamin's mom, Vicki, confirmed that her son committed to play for Jay Wright on Saturday. "Today was the verbal," Vicki Benjamin said.

Seton Hall, Providence, Connecticut, St. John's and Georgia Tech were in the hunt prior to his commitment.

"He just weighed his options and it didn't make sense to go too far from home. He just decided that he was going to go ahead and do this."

Last week, Benjamin pulled double-duty at the ABCD Camp and he also played for Riverside Church at the Peach Jam.

The Mount Vernon senior is noted for his shooting touch. He's not just a 3-point shooter either. Benjamin, in our opinion, has one of the better mid-range games we've seen this summer.

He's the first player to commit to Villanova in the Class of 2004.
