Meeks talks in-home visits

The in-home visits are picking up in a big way for top center Kennedy Meeks.

Four-star center Kennedy Meeks finished up a strong summer with Team United on the EYBL and began adding even more offers to an already extensive list. Now Meeks is in the middle of an impressive group of in-home visits.

Schools like Ohio State, Indiana, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Georgetown, Kentucky, and numerous others have all been involved in Meeks' recruitment, and most recently a trio of schools came in to visit.

"I have had Kentucky, NC State, and Georgetown come in," said Meeks about his recent in-home visits.

The visit from Kentucky was earlier in the week and John Calipari made quite the impression on Meeks.

"It was exciting," said Meeks. "Coach Cal basically told me that I should come to Kentucky and that it is a great place. He was real cool and told me what Kentucky could bring to me. It was just a great experience to meet with him."

He continued about getting an offer from the Wildcats, "I don't know, it is just an honor. I was excited, but I have to take things one step at a time like all of the other schools."

One school that has been there for a while is Georgetown. The Hoyas tracked Meeks all July long, and made sure to stress how important he is to their future during the visit.

"Georgetown was telling me how they need me, and how I would fit perfectly with how they use their big guys in their system," explained Meeks. "Also they were talking about how with me they could win the national championship."

Then there is NC State. The Wolfpack have been on a good recruiting roll in the area the last few years, and they are hoping to continue it with Meeks.

"NC State is kind of cool," said Meeks. "They have a real good recruiting class already there, and they could be right there for the ACC Championship. It is a school that I am definitely considering and a school recruiting me very hard."

Still one more big in-home visit is set for this weekend.

"North Carolina is coming in (Sunday)," said Meeks.

The meeting with Roy Williams is one that Meeks and his family are looking forward to.

"It is going to be exciting," said Meeks. "Him and I stay in contact a lot and he is a real good coach. Obviously he knows how to win, and he knows how to develop players. It should be pretty cool to have him in and I am looking forward to it."

From here the plan is for Meeks to make official visits, though those dates he says aren't yet set in stone. A decision is still planned before the end of the early signing period, but Meeks is committed to taking things one step at a time.

"A decision has always been real to me, but I am just taking everything step by step and understanding how the coaches are going to do things," said Meeks. "I just have to keep going and stay with my process."
