Iwundu picks Wildcats

Kansas State landed their second 2013 commitment on Monday night. This one from a Texas native.

The Kansas State Wildcats already had one wing in their 2013 haul, but they were focused on landing another and did just that with Wesley Iwundu. The Houston (Tex.) Westfield product issued his commitment to Bruce Weber and company on Monday night.

At 6-foot-6 with big time athleticism and the ability to play inside and out, Iwundu brings great versatility to the Kansas State program, and he felt that fit with what the Wildcats are looking for.

"He went ahead and committed to Coach Weber and Coach Alvin Brooks tonight," said Iwundu's older brother Chris. "He wanted to go ahead and make it official, so he told them over the phone."

He continued, "I think it was the style of play and the opportunity to play in the Big XII. Coach Weber did a really good job in expressing the interest in having Wesley join their program."

It was a tough battle for the Wildcats against SMU, but in the end Kansas State won out.

"It was fairly tight between SMU and Kansas State, but the official visit pushed him over the top and I think that just made him feel more comfortable with Kansas State.

Iwundu is a three-star prospect and he now joins Alex Etherington and Marcus Foster in their 2013 class.
