"To me it just felt like family," Davis told Scout.com. "I just know that coach [Cuonzo] Martin is going to make me the best person and player that I can be. I just know that was the best decision for me.
Davis picked the Volunteers over strong interest from Clemson, who he visited this past weekend.
"It worked out kind of perfect," Davis said. "Before going to Tennessee I was still wide open and I had no idea where I wanted to go. I went to Tennessee and I loved it. Then I went to Clemson and I loved it there too."
"I just knew after that I couldn't make a wrong decision," he added. "I just had to really think about it and talk about it with my family and my coaches and see what was best for me and at the end of the day I really liked Tennessee."
Davis said his relationship with Martin was one of the deciding factors.
"That's definitely was one of the main reasons why I committed," Davis said. "My relationship with coach Martin and coach [Tracy] Webster, I talk to those guys a lot. He'll help me on the court and off the court. I just feel like it was the best place for me."
During his junior season at Burford, Davis went for 13 points and 10 rebounds a game.
