Williams transfers, sets a visit

One of the nation's best wings -- Troy Williams -- is transitioning to a new high school and starting to think about college visits. He updated Scout.com on the latest.

Troy Williams is in the midst of a major transition.

After spending his first three seasons of high school at Hampton (Va.) High, Williams opted to transfer to basketball powerhouse Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill for his final season.

"It's been well," he said of the move. "I'm used to the city life, I wouldn't say it's dull, but here's it's not as fun as a city life. It's cool though. I get along well with the teachers. Everybody here is calm and peaceful."

What's the difference between Hampton High and Oak Hill?

"The only thing out here is basketball and school," Williams said.

While Williams focuses on ball and books, he's also looking into the recruiting process. The four-star wing prospect recently met with six schools – North Carolina, Louisville, Alabama, Ohio State, Indiana and Arkansas.

"What I like about them is all the same thing," Williams explained. "I like their playing styles and I like my relationship with their head coaches."

"Everybody is neutral right now," Williams added.

Williams is now beginning to think about taking college visits, but he's also trying to decide if he should sign in the early or late period.

"I'm just going to cut it down to four or five and take my officials," Williams said. "I'm not sure if I'm going to decide in the fall. I'm not looking to commit in November, I'm leaning more towards April."

At this point, Williams has only solidified one visit date.

"For right now all I know is that I'm going to UNC's midnight madness – Late Night with Roy – with Nate [Britt]," Williams said.

"When I go to midnight madness it's not going to be an official visit, I know that for sure," he added. "I'm just going to go see the campus again."

Williams is ranked No. 40 overall in the 2013 class.
