Coming from Phoenix, the move to northern Indiana has been a bit of an adjustment for Jones, but now he is getting used to it and knows what he needs to focus on.
"Man it is crazy here," said Jones. "We are in the woods, but it is cool. We are just by ourselves with no distractions. It is the weight room, basketball, and school. Those are the only focuses out here."
For Jones right now the focus is all on improving on the court, and that means diversifying his game.
"Right now I am working on getting stronger, and then my jump shot and my ball handling skills," said Jones. "I am keeping up on my post moves of course, but my main focus is improving my 15-18 foot jump shot and my ball handling skills."
Recruiting wise several schools remain in close contact with him, and the interest is from all over the country.
"I've really been talking to Washington State, DePaul, Missouri, Marquette, and California," Jones explained. "Cal has been up here, same with Washington State, DePaul, and Missouri. I think Marquette is coming sometime this week, and then Missouri is coming up again."
So far two official visits have been set up.
"I have a visit this weekend to Washington State," said Jones. "Also I will be visiting DePaul on the 29th. Outside of those two I am not sure."
Washington State is a school that has been recruiting Jones for a while. Jones says he is looking forward to the trip out there.
"I am expecting to see a great campus life, a good basketball program, and see where I fit in," said Jones of the Cougars. "I think it should be a real good visit."
Also he has high hopes for DePaul, which is actually very close to his current high school.
"I really got to know the coaching staff this summer," Jones said of the Blue Demons. "I have really been talking to them and getting more acquainted with them."
Two other teams that have been very active are Missouri and California. Both of them continue to recruit him hard.
When it comes to Missouri, their up-tempo style is what really stands out for Jones.
"I like their style of play and how they get up and down the floor," said Jones. "That is kind of how I play. They just tell me I fit in really well for them as a power forward because I run the floor."
Cal is a school that has been involved since the beginning, and he feels like it could be a good fit.
"West Coast for sure," said Jones. "Cal was on me at the beginning of the AAU season, and then it died down, but now it has picked back up. I have always had an interest in Cal because it is on the West Coast. I just feel like they would be a good fit."
For now there is no timetable for his decision, Jones just plans to make his visits and when the time is right make a decision.
