Reed pledges to Miami

Davon Reed, a three-star recruit, is off the board and committed to an ACC program. He committed to Miami on Friday.

It didn't take Davon Reed long to give Miami a verbal pledge on his official visit.

Friday night the 6-foot-5 wing out of Princeton (N.J.) Day School committed to Jim Larranaga and the Hurricanes, according to Team Final coach Rob Brown.

"Playing in the ACC," Brown responded when asked why Reed went with Miami. "It's a high level of competition. He believes in what coach Larranga has going on down there."

"He said they're bringing in five or six freshman in this class," Brown added. "He wants to get out there and help them recruit."

Brown, who coach Reed in the Nike EYBL, said Miami is getting a versatile guard.

"He has a pretty diverse game," Brown said. "He plays hard and plays a couple of positions. He's long and athletic. He still has some maturing to do physically. He'll grow into his body. I love his upside."

Reed is Miami's second pledge for the 2013 class. He joins 6-foot-1 guard Deandre Burnette to make up their current class.

Reed picked Miami over strong interest from Wake Forest, Xavier and a host of other programs.
