Mickey pledges to LSU

Jordan Mickey is headed to LSU. Mickey, a four-star recruit, told coaches involved Thursday evening.

LSU scored a major pick up late Thursday night.

Jordan Mickey, a four-star recruit out of Dallas (Tex.) Prime Prep, committed to the Tigers over strong interest from SMU, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.

"He decided to go LSU," James Wright, Jordan's father dad told Scout.com.

"He said that at the end of the day it really came down to his relationship with that school," Wright added. "He's been going down there for over two years with his brother."

Mickey's brother, James Wright, plays football for LSU.

"I think his brother did weigh in on his decision, but when I talked to him he naturally loved being able to play at the same school as his brother, but he knows he could get drafted."

Johnny Jones and LSU now have three commitments in their 2013 recruiting class. Mickey joins Junior College standouts John Odoh and Deng Deng to make up their current class.

"It was the overall effort of the coaching staff," Wright said. "It was very personal and they showed a lot of energy. Johnny really seems like he's a players coach. He gets every little drop of ability out of every player. "

"They really love playing for Johnny," he added. "They are all excited and think Johnny can get the job done. Talking with the current players there had a lot to do with it on top of the relationships he built with Johnny and coach Kirby.

Mickey is ranked No. 11 at the power forward position and No. 34 overall in the 2013 class.
