Notre Dame adds second local product

A few days after adding one local product the Notre Dame Fighting Irish now have another in the fold.

Coming into the summer Austin Torres was without a division I scholarship offer. The 6-foot-7 very athletic forward however changed that with his play for MBA Select.

Torres picked up several offers after the Adidas Invitational, and ultimately ended up picking Central Michigan, but now things have changed.

"It is true I am going to Notre Dame," said Austin Torres. "It's because I've grown up ND blood and it is my dream school."

MBA Select coach Rod Creech talked more about the decision of Torres.

"(Notre Dame) saw him play every day this summer," said Creech. "They talked to me about him during the summer and said they liked him, and I guess they evaluated some things and said they wanted a bouncy athletic kid, and they had seen Austin and decided to take a look at him."

Creech continued, "They got a hold of Ausitn, talked to him, and that is his dream school. His mom went there and that is where he has always wanted to go, so for him it was a no brainer. De-committing was hard for him, but it was Notre Dame and that is a special place for Austin."

Torres is a good friend and AAU teammate of recent five-star commitment Demetrius Jackson who committed to the Irish on Thursday.

Joining Torres and Jackson as commitments for the Irish are four-star prospects Steve Vasturia and V.J. Beachem.
