Top player narrows listJabari Parker is down to five schools.
Next up for the Chicago (Ill.) Simeon standout is to begin taking official visits. He plans to visit Duke the weekend of October 27th and then will head to Florida the following weekend.
Parker doesn't appear to be in a hurry with his recruiting process. With his list at five and just two visits set prior to the early signing period, I'd expect his recruitment to go past the first period.
Parker averaged nearly 20 points and nine rebounds a game as a junior and helped lead Simeon to a third state championship.
Just a few commitmentsThe weekend didn't yield many college choices. In fact, not one top 100 prospect gave a verbal pledge this past weekend.
Perhaps the most significant decision came from Dayshon "Scoochie" Smith, who committed to Archie Miller and Dayton on Friday. Smith picked the Flyers over interest from Providence, Penn State, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Wichita State.
New top 5With the Harrison twins' pledge to Kentucky, the Wildcats have jumped to No. 1 in the latest 2013 class rankings.
Kentucky also holds a pledge from in-state standout Derek Willis, a three-star prospect. That gives the cats a pair of top three recruits and a prospect just outside the FOX Sports NEXT Top 100.
Following Kentucky on the list is Florida, who has commitments from a pair of top 10 recruits – Kasey Hill & Chris Walker. The Gators had Julius Randle on campus this past weekend and are also in the mix for Jabari Parker.
Two decisions this weekTwo top 100 prospects will announce their college decisions this week.
Rathan-Mayes is planning to announce his choice on Saturday. He's considering Florida State, Illinois and Connecticut. Rathan-Mayes, a four-star recruit, is ranked the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2013 class.
Coming up?With midnight madness tipping off Friday, a number of schools will host prospects this weekend. Here's a peak at a few of the big visits:
Kansas – Tyler Roberson, Wayne Selden
Kentucky – Andrew Wiggins, Marcus Lee, Harrison twins
North Carolina – Kennedy Meeks, Troy Williams, Shelton Mitchell, Nate Britt, Isaiah Hicks
San Diego State – Isaac Hamilton
Missouri – Devin Booker
Our full visitor list will be posted on Friday.
