Burton is garnering attention

Three-star wing Joe Burton is bringing in significant recruiting attention.

Houston area product Joe Burton has been garnering attention on the AAU circuit since before he even entered high school. Now the 6-foot-4 wing is beginning to make some visits and schools are showing him significant attention.

Burton had a solid summer running with the Franchize All-Stars, and it is one where he feels people saw what he is capable of on the floor.

"It was a good summer," said Burton. "I think I could have played better. As a team we could have done a little bit better, but overall I think it went well."

Recruiting wise numerous schools took notice, and now he is gaining more and more attention on the recruiting trail.

"I am hearing from Oklahoma, West Virginia, Arkansas, Pepperdine, and a few others," said Burton.

At this point the only visit that Burton has taken is to Oklahoma. For Burton that trip went very well.

"Oklahoma was great," Burton explained. "They are a real up tempo team. I was just real comfortable there. I kind of felt at home."

In terms of schools he plans to visit coming up, Burton said, "I plan on visiting West Virginia, St. John's, Texas A&M, and Texas."

Burton says that West Virginia is a school that he has always followed and likes.

"I have always been a fan of West Virginia since they play fast and get up and down, and I am kind of a fast break guy," Burton explained. "The coaches are also real cool coaches and they have been coming down to see me."

For now Burton is just focused on getting better and improving his game more so than making a college decision.

"I am working on my ball handling mostly," said Burton. "I am trying to be a better shooting guard. I can shoot the ball pretty well, and I can score. Also I am working my defense."
