Cartwright Hearing From Local School

Kyron Cartwright, a very talented 2014 point guard from Southern California, says one local program has been on him the hardest...

Kyron Cartwright, 5-9 JR PG Compton (Calif.) High, is a very promising young prospect and one of the better point guards in the west for 2014. A quick, true point with very good ball skills and a good stroke, Cartwright is still a bit under the recruiting radar. However, that should change as coaches get a good look at him during his junior season.

I spoke with Cartwright recently and he said one school has been showing him a lot of interest.

"Loyola Marymount has been showing me the most interest and they've been on me the hardest," said Cartwright. "They've been out to see m a bunch of times. I also heard some from Utah State and in the summer I was getting letters from Washington, Washington State and Stanford."

I asked Cartwright what he's looking for in a school.

"And education and good degree," said Cartwright. "The location doesn't really matter too much. As far as early playing time, I don't expect to start right away, but I just want to touch the floor and get some time."

Cartwright said a trio of schools were his favorites when growing up.

"I liked Oregon, Texas and Baylor," said Cartwright.

Cartwright said he's in no hurry to choose a school.

"I'm going to take it to my senior year and make sure that I have the best options," said Cartwright.

Cartwright said he has a 3.0 GPA.
