"USC, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon State, Hawaii, Portland, San Diego, Rice, San Francisco and Northern Arizona have offered," said Fitzner. "St. Mary's and Pepperdine have both said they will probably offer soon. Some other schools that I'm hearing from are Cal, Oregon and a little bit from Gonzaga."
I asked Fitzner if any schools stand out for him at this time.
"No, I'm still wide open," said Fitzner.
Fitzner has taken several unofficial visits already.
"We went to the Bay Area over the summer and visited Cal, St. Mary's and Stanford," said Fitzner. "I went to USC last weekend. And I've been to San Diego – its right across from my high school."
I asked Fitzner what he is looking for in a school.
"A good academic school and a staff that can help me take my game to the next level," said Fitzner. "I'd like to go to a winning program and play with a point guard that moves the ball well and someone that I can fit in with. As far as early playing time, it would be nice to play early but if I find a good fit I'm not sure how important that will be. In terms of location, I'm not real familiar with back east, but I'd like to check it out. I like all kinds of weather."
I asked Fitzner if he has a time frame in mind for choosing a school.
"I'm kind of planning on playing another season of club ball before deciding," said Fitzner. "But I guess if the right fit came along then I could commit whenever."
Fitzner said he has a 3.0 GPA.
