Derrick Byars tied the game at 71 with a 3-pointer and minutes later Wade sank two free-throws on top of a DeAngelo Alexander hoop to get it into the extra session where he then scored 8 more. Shelden Williams scored 29 for the Athletes. They will face the Illinois Warriors in the semis.

Illinois Warriors 75, Mount Royal 59 The scrappy bunch from Maryland finally met their match as the Warriors, led by Shannon Brown's 22 points, eventually pulled away. JaJuan Robinson scored 16 in the loss.

Boo Williams 72, Tallahassee Wildcats 55 JJ Redick led the way with 18 points and was smoking 3s early to lead Boo. John Gilchrist's super first half effort was also key. Tallahassee's Rashad Anderson scored 24 but by the time he was able to amass his total, Boo had this one sealed up. The defending champs will play the Charlotte Royals in the semis in a rematch of a game played in the same round at the Boo Williams Invitational. Charlotte won that game in April and the table is set for the Duke (Redick) vs. North Carolina (McCants) rematch.

Charlotte Royals 76, Illinois Wildcats 66 Rashad McCants has been pacing himself the entire tournament and as a result he has plenty left in the tank for the stretch run. He bailed the Royals out with a team-high 23 points. His effort spoiled a ridiculous first half in which Wildcats guard Dee Brown was electric and tallied 20; he finished with 25 but wasn't able to get the ball down the stretch and couldn't pull off the miracle comeback after his team blew the 6-point halftime lead.
