Logwood begins to emerge

La Lumiere is one of the top teams in the country and Sam Logwood figures to be a big part of their success this season.

Indianapolis native Sam Logwood is now at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere. The junior forward spent the past two seasons at Lawrence North High School. Now at La Lumiere he has shown signs of really taking off with his game.

At 6-foot-5 with big time athleticism, potential has always been the word with Logwood, and now at La Lumiere he is adjusting and starting to capitalize on that upside.

"It is way different from Lawrence North," said Logwood of La Lumiere. "It is a lot different. It is college like with the weight room and workouts. We are all coming together as a team when we play teams like Findlay and Oak Hill."

He continued, "Coach (Alan) Huss is really developing me as a player and turning me into more of a guard and making me comfortable out on the perimeter."

Recruiting wise things are still at the beginning for Logwood, but numerous schools have made sure to drop by and see him play.

"Ball State, Indiana State, Xavier, UNC-Greensboro, Missouri State, and Illinois State have all been in to see me," Logwood noted.

In specific Xavier has made sure to stay in close contact with the 2014 prospect.

"When I came to La Lumiere assistant coach Travis Steele started talking to me more and said they were interested," said Logwood. "They have just been talking to me a lot and stuff and how they want me to get on campus and how I would be a good fit for their program."

For now though Logwood is focused on having a big season and making the turn prospect to player. To do that though he will have to be a key piece in what the team hopes is a very successful season.

"Our goal for the year is to get to the Rise Tournament at the end and just win it," said Logwood.
