McClure has major interest

There might not be a better pure scorer in the 2015 class than King McClure, and he already has a host of scholarship offers.

One of the top scorers in the class of 2015 is King McClure. The Dallas (Tex.) Triple A Academy standout showed his skills over Thanksgiving weekend in a big win for his school in which McClure dominated the game for his team.

The game between Triple A Academy and Rockwall was a heavily built up one. With three of the top sophomores in the state on the floor at the same time it was a highly anticipated game, and McClure shined.

"The game was great it was a great rivalry with Austin Grandstaff and Elijah Thomas," said McClure. "They are two great players going head-to-head with me. Three of the best sophomores in Texas on the same floor, it doesn't get better than that."

Always known as an elite scorer, McClure is now working on rounding out his game.

"I have so many areas to improve on," said McClure. "I think my biggest areas are my three point shooting and my defense. I need to pick it up and stay in front of small guards and get my lateral movement quicker."

Recruiting wise McClure has a ton of early interest, but he is no rush to make any kind of decision.

"I am taking the process slow, but as of right now I have Texas, Duke, Baylor, Indiana, Arkansas, Florida, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and a few others," listed McClure.

He continued, "I took a visit to Texas about a month ago and I took a visit to Arkansas two months ago, and I have been to Baylor. I should be going back down to Texas soon."

The in-state Longhorns are making sure that McClure knows he is a priority recruit, and so far he is very receptive.

"I love Texas," said McClure. "Texas is probably one of my top choices. It is a great program and I like the coaches there."

Also in-state, Baylor has had a chance to impress McClure, and the Bears so far have done a good job.

"Baylor I have been down there a few times," said McClure. "I went down there for Midnight Madness. It was fun and electric. The players are cool and the coaches are real cool. I like the atmosphere there down at Baylor."

McClure also enjoyed his trip to Arkansas.

"The Arkansas visit was real nice," said McClure. "Coach (Mike) Anderson is a great coach and a great man. I also got a chance to watch them player."

Two schools that he hasn't yet visited, but that are recruiting hard are Florida and Duke. At the moment McClure has a major interest in both.

"I haven't heard from Coach K, but I have heard from Coach (Jeff) Capel a lot," said McClure of Duke. "We have a pretty good relationship. He and my dad have talked on the phone a lot and it is an honor to hear from Duke."

He continued, "That is a super honor to hear from Florida. To realize that a coach who won back to back national titles wants you feels real good."

For now it is just the beginning for McClure, and expect him to be one of the top scorers in this class for a long time to come.
