James looking at his recruitment

Three-star floor general Jalen James is back on the market and looking forward to a strong senior season.

A onetime commitment to the University of Illinois, La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere point guard Jalen James is searching for a final home. The 6-foot-3 floor general is off to a solid start to his senior season, and now is taking a look at his recruitment.

The season is going well for La Lumiere, and James' steady hand at point guard bringing new players into the fold is a big reason why.

"We have new players from last year with Detrick Mostella and Torren Jones, so it is kind of different," said James. "We are young, but we are coming together and we are working real well together. So far we have been dangerous on offense."

For his part since he played on the summer circuit with the high powered Illinois Wolves, James says that he is working to improve multiple aspects of his game.

"I am working on my strength," James explained. "I have been in the weight room a lot. Also I am working on my point guard play with using angles and getting my teammates the ball at the right time."

When it comes to his recruitment things are open, but several schools have stayed in the mix with him.

"Right now I am wide open," he noted. "I have been hearing from DePaul, SMU, Washington State, Providence, Western Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State."

James continued, "I haven't set up any visits yet, but I will do that probably after the season. I know I want to visit Washington State and Western Kentucky."

One school, Washington State, is making sure to keep a close eye on James.

"They came up here during the open period and they said they needed a point guard," he explained. "I saw they have an open spot for me because their point guard is a senior, so it could be a good fit."

No decision is imminent for James and expect numerous schools to come take a look at him during his senior year.
