Looney off to great start

One of the best juniors in the country -- Kevon Looney -- has new scholarship offers. Who are the latest schools to offer the five-star prospect?

Kevon Looney's junior season is off to a resounding start.

The top 10 recruit out of Milwaukee (Wisc.) Hamilton has already put up point totals of 50 and 44 and is averaging an impressive 28.7 points through his first six games.

"I bring versatility," Looney said when asked to describe his game. "I can score. I can rebound. I'm good at help defense. I think I'm a good leader for my team and I'm really versatile."

"I just need to continue to work on my shooting and get stronger and faster," he added.

Looney told Scout.com that he's recently added scholarship offers from Louisville, North Carolina State, Florida State, Florida and Maryland.

Michigan State, Tennessee, Texas, Cincinnati, Marquette, Wisconsin, Kansas, Georgetown and Stanford have also offered, while North Carolina is showing interest.

"I'll probably start really paying attention and making a list in the spring time," Looney said.

"I haven't really narrowed the schools down or picked any schools out yet," he added when asked about taking any visits.

Thus far Looney has taken unofficial visits to Marquette, Wisconsin and Tennessee. While in-state schools are showing him quite a bit of attention, he said proximity wouldn't factor into his decision making.

"Distance probably won't play a part in my recruitment," he said. "I really don't care how far it is that I go."

A 2014 prospect, Looney is currently ranked No. 6 overall and No. 2 power forward.
