COP: No dates set for Wiggins

Ft. MYERS, Fla. -- Andrew Wiggins -- the nation's top prospect -- had a big outing at the City of Palms. Afterwards he discussed his recruitment.

Andrew Wiggins had one of his better performances of the high school season on Thursday.

Playing in front of a packed out gym at Bishop Verot at the City of Palms Classic, Wiggins scored at will against Spring (Tex.) HYCA. Wiggins went 15-for-22 from the field and scored a game high 31 points.

"I'm healthy," Wiggins said. "There are a lot of people here so it was a good atmosphere and that's when I like to shine."

The 6-foot-8 wing not only put together a strong offensive effort, but also did a good job defending 2014 wing Justin Jackson.

"I take a lot of pride in my defense," he said. "I think it's underrated. I think Justin Jackson is a great player and will go really far in basketball. He can shoot it and has the floater game on lock. He's a great player. He was hard to defend."

Wiggins, who was watched by Florida State's Leonard Hamilton on Thursday, said there isn't much new regarding his recruitment.

"It's the same as it was before," Wiggins said. "I'm just waiting for the spring for my official visits."

Wiggins has already visited Florida State officially. Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio State and North Carolina are in contention for an official visit. Wiggins said he hasn't discussed possible dates with those schools.

Wiggins broke down what he likes about four of the schools involved:

Kansas "Kansas is a great school. Great players have been developed there. There's a lot of history. It's probably one of the most historic schools in the U.S."

Kentucky: "The best players usually go to Kentucky if they are one and done and they are projected to go high in the draft."

Florida State: "With Florida State I just have a big, big legacy at Florida State with my mom and dad."

North Carolina: "History has been made there with Jordan, Vince and everybody. That's where my dad is from too – Kinston -- so I have a lot of family there."

Wiggins is the top rated recruit in the 2013 class.
