Following a tough loss, one in which Edwards struggled shooting the ball, he was able to diagnose exactly what the issue was with his squad.
"Free throws and turnovers are our biggest downfall right now," said Edwards. "We just have to continue to work in practice and get better at it."
Still despite a bit of a rough year, schools are continuing to stay in close contact with Edwards.
"I've been hearing from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, all of them guys," noted Edwards. "Michigan State is coming to our game at North Central, so I am hearing from all of them."
Recently Edwards made a visit to Michigan State for their game against Tuskegee, and he liked what he saw on the visit.
"Michigan State, I liked the visit a lot," said Edwards. "Coach (Tom) Izzo and Coach (Dane) Fife are really cool. We talked about basketball a lot. Also Branden Dawson is from Gary, and I talk to him a lot. It was fun."
According to Edwards, Dawson, who is from the same area of Indiana as he is, spoke to him about the school and recruiting in general.
"(Dawson) told me the coaching staff, the players, and the school are great," noted Edwards. "Also the school is great and it is a nice school to go to. Branden says to pick the best school for me, so that is what I am going to do."
Up next for Edwards could be a visit to Bloomington for one of the biggest games of the Big Ten season.
"I'm trying to make the Michigan and IU game at Indiana," said Edwards. "That should be a great game."
The Hoosiers had assistant coach Kenny Johnson and head coach Tom Crean viewing him over the weekend, and Edwards says that Indiana is high on his list.
"They stand in my front because I like the offense and the school is great," noted Edwards. "I like IU a lot."
Also the Michigan Wolverines had an assistant in attendance and Edwards says that the school has made an early impression on him.
"Michigan, Coach (John) Beilein and Coach (LaVall) Jordan are good guys," said Edwards. "Also me and Glenn Robinson have talked about Michigan. Glenn, Mitch (McGary), and Spike (Albrecht) are all from The Region so that would be nice."
The in-state Purdue Boilermakers have had a lot of success with East Chicago kids in the recent past, and Edwards has been in close contact with them asking about the school.
"Purdue, I like them a lot," said Edwards. "E'Twaun Moore and I talked a lot about Purdue over the summer he said the school was great. Also Kawann Short who plays football said everything is great. The academics are great and so are the athletics."
For now Edwards isn't close to any decision, but he knows the Big Ten schools close to home are the places he will consider seriously.
"My family wants to make some games and they just don't want to see me on TV they want to see me in person," said Edwards.
