Mitchell Going Through Process

Jelani Mitchell, a talented senior combo guard from Southern California, gives us an update on his recruitment...

Jelani Mitchell, 6-3 SR PG/SG Pasadena (Calif.) Muir, is one of the top unsigned prospects in the west for 2013. A versatile guard that might play either spot at the next level, Mitchell does a little bit of everything. He's got a good basketball body, with a good feel and approach to the game.

I spoke with Mitchell recently and asked about the schools that he's been hearing from lately.

"Washington has been calling a lot lately," said Mitchell. "And Rice and Cal State Northridge have also been talking to me."

I asked Mitchell if any school stands out for him at this time.

"Washington is my favorite," said Mitchell. "I like the players that they've been producing out of that program. They have a good staff and there's a lot about them I like. They've been talking to my parents a lot."

Mitchell hasn't taken any visits yet, but said Rice wants him to take a visit if he gets a higher test score.

"I'm taking the test again on January 28th," said Mitchell.
