Mohamed-Djitte has new offers

Sidy Mohamed-Djitte has five scholarship offers, but still plans to wait out the process. Who is involved with the 6-foot-10 big man?

Sidy Mohamed-Djitte has only been in the United States for a year. A native of Senegal, Mohamed-Djitte came over to pursue his basketball dreams.

Despite a slow start, he's starting to reel in scholarship offers.

"He had a really good spring with us and in July during the first part of the period, he injured his ankle and he wasn't able to play," Upward Stars coach Curt Wheeler told

After sitting out most of the summer, Mohamed-Djitte, a standout at Fayetteville (N.C.) Northwood Temple Academy, managed to reel in scholarship offers from Connecticut, North Carolina State, Clemson, Old Dominion and Cincinnati.

"Duke is calling," Wheeler added. "They are trying to decide if they want to recruit him or not. Wake Forest wants to offer, but wants to check his grades. He has a like a 3.8."

Wheeler also mentioned he's fielded phone calls from Temple and VCU.

"I think he's one of the better big men out there," Wheeler said. "If he gets his hands on a rebound it's his. He blocks shots. He's ahead of the game defensively."

Mohamed-Djitte hasn't set any visit dates. The current plan is to wait until after his senior season to begin taking official visits.

"He's going to play the season out since he didn't get to play in July," Wheeler said. "He's just trying to see what is the right fit academically. He wants to study engineering or Pre-Med."
