Shelton Mitchell, a standout at Waxhaw (N.C.) Cuthbertson, committed to Jeff Bzdelik and his staff after considering a host of schools including offers from Missouri, Miami, Illinois, Tennessee, South Carolina and Clemson.
"I picked Wake because they have been here from day one," Mitchell told Scout.com. "Ever since I was a freshman they've said they were going to recruit me as hard as possible."
Mitchell also cited the atmosphere and his relationship with Wake Forest assistant coach Jeff Battle as reasons he went with the Demon Deacons.
"It's a great school and great place and just the family atmosphere is great," Mitchell said. "Then coach Battle, his background coaching Chris Paul and great point guards that can only help me tremendously."
"It was great," he added about the way Battle recruited him. "He recruited me the hardest out of everyone."
Mitchell, a four-star recruit, is regarded as the No. 9 lead guard and the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2014 recruiting class.
