Gaynor Favors West Coast Program

Darryl Gaynor, a promising junior guard out of Las Vegas, gives us the latest on his recruitment...

Darryl Gaynor, 6-2 JR SG/PG Las Vegas (Nev.) Palo Verde, is a versatile prospect with solid ball skills and good defensive ability.

I spoke with Gaynor recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"I've been hearing from Northern Arizona, Weber State, Arizona State, Utah State, San Francisco and Portland," said Gaynor. "Northern Arizona has offered."

I asked Gaynor if any school stands out for him.

"I think Portland right now," said Gaynor. "They have a good staff, I like how they defend. My sister went to Oregon, so I've been up there before."

Gaynor talked a little about the factors he will consider when picking a school.

"Someplace where they defend, run and gun, and win of course," said Gaynor.

Gaynor played some point guard in the summer, but said he's playing the two now.

"I would rather play the two," said Gaynor. "I like to score."

Gaynor said he currently has a 2.9 GPA and he plans on making his decision after the summer.
