Four Stand Out For Williams

Jack Williams, a skilled power forward from Southern California, has a few schools near the top of his list...

Jack Williams, 6-7 JR PF West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, is an active four man with a nice face-up jumper to 16-18 feet and a good feel for the game.

I spoke with Williams recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been recruiting him.

"Colorado, Stanford, Penn, Rice, Northern Colorado, Portland, UC Santa Barbara, Fairfield, Harvard a little bit, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Northern Arizona and American," said Williams.

Williams said Colorado, Penn, Rice, Northern Colorado, Fairfield, NAU and American have extended scholarship offers.

When asked if any school stands out for him at this time, Williams replied, "If I had to choose now, probably Rice, Colorado, UCSB and Penn are the top ones."

Williams talked a little about the issues he'll consider when choosing a school.

"A good coach, somebody that I can relate and talk to," said Williams. "A good assistant that I can work with on developing my game. A good school, with a good business program since I want to major in business. Also a good campus."

Williams has taken unofficial visits to Arizona State, Colorado, UCSB and Pepperdine.

"After the summer, I want to narrow it down to 3-4 schools and then take my official visits," said Williams. "I hope to decide after that and sign in the fall."

Williams said he has a 3.5 GPA.
