Notebook: Key visits, Lawrence getting close

There are a handful of key trips this weekend, Jermaine Lawrence is closing in on a decision and there are just seven top 100 prospects still available in the 2013 class.

Lawrence getting close

Jermaine Lawrence isn't too far away from a college choice.

The five-star power forward is down to St. John's, Cincinnati and UNLV. He's taken trips to Cincinnati and UNLV and is working to schedule a trip to St. John's.

There was a chance Lawrence, a 6-foot-9, 220-pounder, was going to visit St. John's this weekend, but it appears the trip will be another date.

"[We are] really looking forward to getting the visit in this month," a source around the Lawrence situation told Scout.com.

According to our source, the plan is to hash out a decision before the end of February.

"He wants to sit with his parents after St. John's and recap the whole thing then announce once everyone has talked it out," the source said.

Lawrence is currently regarded as the No. 17 prospect in the 2013 class.
