Ball State, Oregon State, S. Illinois Add Recruit

Ball State had three scholarships to award at the beginning of the period, now they have one. BlueChipHoops has learned that the Cardinals have received a pair of commitments from players native to Indiana.

Ball State Adds Cates and Cox

Ball State head coach Tim Buckley (pictured) has used two of his programs available scholarships on players from the state of Indiana. BSU has added PF Kevin Cates and PG Kyle Cox.

Cates, a member of the Spiece Pistols, stands 6-9 and weighs 215 pounds. Last year at Marion (IN) High, he averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds. He was a sophomore when the Giants, led by Zach Randolph, won the Indiana state championship.

Cox is the son of the Ball State trainer. He is 6-0 and weighs 145 pounds. Reportedly, he was recently offered a scholarship by Utah.

The Cardinals have one grant remaining and are focusing their efforts on securing a commitment from a frontcourt player.

Kevin Field Picks Oregon State

Field attended the 2001 Nike All-American Camp but played much better with the Emerald City Pioneers at the Peach Jam. He has a nice medium-range stroke and is an excellent passer for a player his size.
