Wright's Recruitment Expanding

Namon Wright, one of the elite wings in the west for 2014, has a host of top programs recruiting him...

Namon Wright, 6-3 JR SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Pacific Hills, is one of the elite prospects in the west for 2014. Wright has a terrific all-around game, with a very high skill level, and excellent feel. He's an above-average athlete, with a solid stroke to the stripe, and a very good approach to the game.

I spoke with Wright recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been recruiting him.

"I'm hearing from all of the Pac-12, except for Stanford and Washington State," said Wright. "UNLV, Gonzaga and Florida State have also been recruiting me."

Wright said all of the schools recruiting him, except for UCLA and Arizona, have extended scholarship offers.

I asked Wright if any school stands out for him at this time.

"No, I'm really wide open right now," said Wright.

I asked Wright what he's looking for in a school.

"It's a mixture of things," said Wright. "Good academics and athletics, the weather, a place where they get up and down some."

When asked if early playing time will be a factor in his decision, Wright replied, "It depends on the school. If I'm playing at a high level, then I could see waiting to get time."

I asked Wright if the opportunity to play at a high level, with an opportunity to go to Final Fours, would be a factor for him.

"Yes, definitely," said Wright.

Wright has visited USC unofficially, but said he has no plans at this time for more unofficial visits. He said he has a 3.1 GPA.
