Small hopes to visit Gonzaga soon

2015 guard Kendall Small has a handful of scholarship offers and an early favorite.

One of the talented young talents on display at the Nike Extravaganza this past weekend was 5-foot-11 guard Kendall Small.

Small, a sophomore at Huntington Beach (Calif.) Ocean View, is a pass first lead guard that sees the floor well, knows how to run a team, but is also a capable scorer.

"I think I've been playing good this year," Small told "I'm being more aggressive than I was last year because we had a lot of weapons. But this year I feel like I have to facilitate and score for us to win."

"When I'm rolling I'm getting to the basket, getting fouled and getting to the free throw line and just making the right plays at the right time," he added.

Despite just a 2015 recruit, Small already claims scholarship offers from Connecticut, Gonzaga, Columbia, UNLV and Portland.

"It's good," he said of the recruiting process. "I like it. It's fun. I've been to a couple of campuses."

Small said he's been by Pepperdine, UCLA and USC. He also mentioned the possibility of visiting Gonzaga, his childhood favorite, in the near future.

"I'm trying to go up to Gonzaga soon," he said.

"I grew up following Gonzaga," Small said. "I don't know, I've just liked them a lot since Adam Morrison was there."

What sticks out about the Bulldogs?

"I like their style and it would be fun to play with some national players with how they recruit players from around the world," Small said.
