Benson Picking Up Offers

Casey Benson, a skilled lefty point guard out of Arizona, gives us the latest on his recruitment...

Casey Benson, 6-3 JR PG Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol, is one of the better point guards in the west for 2014 and he's already received a number of offers.

"I'm hearing from Arizona State, Oregon, St. Mary's, Colorado, Stanford, Oregon State, USC, Nebraska, San Francisco and Washington State," said Benson. "Everyone except Stanford, Nebraska and Washington State has offered."

I asked Benson if any school stands out for him at this time.

"No, I really like all of them," said Benson. "They're all really good schools."

When asked if any staff is recruiting him particularly hard, Benson replied, "No, they're all showing a good amount of interest and I talk with all of them on a regular basis."

Benson talked a little about the factors that will influence his choice.

"The main thing is finding the right fit," said Benson. "My relationship with the coaches will be important; I want to feel comfortable with them. The style of play is also important and also how well I connect with the players."

Benson has taken unofficial visits to Stanford, Oregon, St. Mary's, Arizona State and Colorado. I asked him if he has any schools in mind for official visits.

"No, I haven't really thought about it much yet," said Benson. "Right now I'm focused on our season, but I'll think more about recruiting when the season ends."

Benson said he has a 3.9 GPA.
