Cartwright Flying Below Radar

Kyron Cartwright, a talented junior point guard out of Compton (Calif.) High, will likely see his recruitment pick up when coaches get a look at him in April...

Kyron Cartwright, 5-10 JR PG Compton (Calif.) High, is one of the top point guards in the west for 2014. A quick lefty with range to the stripe, excellent vision and very good ball skills overall, Cartwright is perhaps the most under-recruited prospect in the West Coast junior class.

"So far I'm hearing from San Diego, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Utah State and Grand Canyon," said Cartwright. "Grand Canyon has offered."

Cartwright said he has no leader at this time and he's wide open.

I asked Cartwright what he is looking for in a school.

"I want a good relationship with my coach and a fast pace," said Cartwright. "I'd kind of like to get out of state, but I will stay here if that's where the best opportunity is for me."

Cartwright has taken an unofficial visit to LMU.

"I liked it there, it was a nice campus and I really like the coaching staff," said Cartwright.

Cartwright said he's in no rush to reach a decision.

"I'll probably decide sometime around the start of my senior season," said Cartwright.

Cartwright said he will play for Pump N Run and Team Compton in the spring and summer.
