Tavrion Dawson, 6-6 JR PF Gardena (Calif.) Serra, is a promising prospect with a good skill set and a very nice feel for the game. Dawson is a pretty good spot-up shooter out to 15-17 feet and he has an excellent approach to the game.

I spoke with Dawson recently and he gave me a list of schools that have been in touch with him.

"Pepperdine, Cal Poly, Montana State, New Mexico, Nevada and Washington have been the main ones," said Dawson.

I asked Dawson if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

"New Mexico, Pepperdine, Nevada and Cal Poly have been on me the hardest," said Dawson.

Dawson has yet to take any unofficial visits, but said he could take one soon.

"I'll probably go up to Cal Poly after the season," said Dawson.

Dawson has a list of issues he'll be looking at when choosing a school.

"I want a family based program and a coach with job security," said Dawson. "A good education is also important. Location doesn't matter; I'll go anywhere."

Dawson said he has no time frame for picking a school and he has a 3.2 GPA.
