Mudiay discusses lists

Emmanuel Mudiay is now considering 10 schools. The elite lead guard in the 2014 class discusses his recent visits and a rumor that two schools are leading for his services.

Emmanuel Mudiay,'s No. 3 overall prospect in the 2014 class, recently narrowed his list.

The Dallas (Tex.) Prime Prep standout is down to 10 schools – Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, St. John's, SMU and Texas.

"That was a big step we took," Mudiay explained to "The next step we don't really know yet. We are just waiting right now."

Mudiay has taken a pair of trips in recent months. The latest was to Arizona in January.

"It was good," he said of the Arizona trip. "It was real fun. It was when they played UCLA. It was a whiteout."

"They are a big family, as far as the team," Mudiay added. "I'm real cool with one of their assistant coaches, coach Book. I've known him for a long time. They just have a great thing going on out there."

Mudiay has also been to Baylor a few times this year. His former teammate – Isaiah Austin – is a freshman for the Bears.

"Most of the times I went to watch Isaiah play too," Mudiay said about his visits to Baylor. "It's a cool school. Coach Drew and them are good."

Kentucky is also heavily involved in Mudiay's recruitment. Kentucky visited Mudiay at his school recently.

"I've talked to coach Cal a couple times," Mudiay said. "They just came to the school last week. I've just been talking to them. Everyone think that's where I'm going but there are no favorites right now."

Although he doesn't have a date set, Mudiay does plan to visit Kentucky.

"I'm definitely going to take one," he said. "I just don't know when, but I'm going to take one."

The school of thought is that Baylor and Kentucky are the leaders for Baylor, but he disputed that.

"That's what is crazy," Mudiay said. "I've never particularly mentioned one of them. I'm open right now. It's still early. It's getting down to where I'll have to make a decision soon, but I really don't have a favorite right now."

Mudiay doesn't have a timetable on making his college choice.
