Blue Hens Add Greek Center

David Henderson and the CAA-bound Delaware Blue Hens have added another player to their 2001 recruiting class. Joining swingman Vohn Hunter, forward Calvin Smith and PG Mike Slattery is Greek center Yannis Xenakis.

Hens Round Out Class With Import

David Henderson and his staff are finally finished recruiting in the Class of 2001. The Blue Hens have added Yannis Xenakis, a 7-1/250 center from Athens, Greece.

Xenakis played last year at Manatee Community College where he averaged 16 points and 8 rebounds. He played the season before at Northwest JC in Wyoming, but sought a slightly warmer climate and transferred to Manatee.

At one time, he was committed to Centenary but the lefty decided to open the process back up late and explore his options. Xanakis' commitment means the Blue Hens not only are done recruiting members of the Class of 2001, but their work in 2002 may be finished as well. With no scholarships remaining, expect UD to begin working on members of the Class of 2003.

Old Dominion signee SG Kiah Thomas was a recent standout for Boo Williams at the AAU National Tournament. Head coach Blaine Taylor was in attendance and had to be happy with his performance.

Speaking of standouts, Virginia Commonwealth signee PF Derrick Reid played well for the Richmond Metro Gold I at the same event Thomas played in. The 6-8, 215 pounder gets his hands on a lot of balls and should see time next season in Richmond.
