Walker still open in process

As one of the best scorers in the state of Michigan and the Midwest, Martez Walker is getting a lot of late interest on the recruiting trail.

For teams who are looking for a scorer late in the process one who is still available is Detroit (Mich.) Pershing standout Martez Walker. The 6-foot-5 wing can really shoot the basketball, and is having an excellent senior season.

Pershing is still alive in the state tournament, and that is a good thing for Walker who is working hard this year to be a leader and get his team a state title.

"Everything is going good," said Walker. "We are still winning, and it is March so winning is all that matters."

He continued, "The one thing that has changed is I am talking more and I am a better leader. I am just trying to play hard and lead my team."

When it comes to his recruitment, several high-major schools are taking a close look and determining if they should make a serious run at Walker.

"Coach (Tom) Izzo has been calling, Coach (John) Beilein at Michigan has called, Temple, Miami, and Baylor a little bit," said Walker.

According to Walker both Temple and Miami have offered and the other schools are taking a very close look at him

At this point Walker has only made one official visit and that was to Temple. It was a trip that he definitely enjoyed.

"I made the Temple visit before the season," Walker explained. "I felt I could play with them and I liked the coaches a lot. Also those Philly Cheesesteaks were really good."

At the moment Walker is just hoping to finish out his high school season strong and win a title. After the competition of his high school year the three-star small forward will take a closer look at his recruitment and probably take a few more official visits before determining which school to ultimately sign with.
