Whitehead continues to get offers

Isaiah Whiehead is one of the most athletic and tough shooting guards in the 2014 class, and recently he picked up a big offer.

Four-star shooting guard Isaiah Whitehead from Brooklyn (NY) Lincoln concluded a strong high school season recently. The 6-foot-4 guard once again proved why he is one of the top players on the East Coast, and that led to more offers.

According to Lincoln assistant coach James Barrett, Whitehead had a tremendous junior season and really continued to step things up on the court.

"He had a really good year," said Barrett. "He scored, he rebounded, and we have some guys that made it easier for him because he was able to pass and feel comfortable knowing something good would happen."

For Barrett he was not only impressed with how Whitehead played, but how he matured and became a leader.

"The biggest improvement he has made is in being a leader and the role he took on with this team. Last year being one of the younger guys it was tough to be as vocal as he is now, but now he has stepped up and become a leader for us," explained Barrett.

When it comes to recruiting schools like Louisville, Kentucky, Syracuse, Rutgers, Arizona, St. John's, Maryland, UCLA, and a few others are still involved and looking at Whitehead.

Recently Louisville offered Whitehead, and according to Barrett the Cardinals boss could be making a visit soon.

"Rick Pitino said he is hoping to come up after the NCAA Tournament," said Barrett.

For now Whitehead is moving slow with his recruitment, and said he plans to make some visits after the spring, and then go forward with making a decision after the visit process is complete.

The current focus is on getting better and continuing to make improvements to his game.

According to Barrett the goal is simple for Whitehead going into the AAU season.

"He just wants to come up and compete and show everybody what he can do," said Barrett.

Whitehead is currently ranked as the No. 43 player in the 2014 class.
