At nearly 6-foot-4, Sumner has good size and length at the guard position, and overall he feels that his junior season went well.
"I think I had a good season and I played pretty well," said Sumner. "I think I improved my explosiveness and also I improved my three point shooting."
Throughout the season Sumner has attracted significant recruiting attention, and recently more schools have entered the mix and started calling.
Recently during a playoff game against Michigan signee and four-star recruit Derrick Walton, Sumner played well in front of John Beilein and assistant Bacari Alexander.
"I haven't talked to them since then, but Bacari texted me after the game and told me I played well, and I like Michigan a lot," said Sumner.
Also Sumner has had Xavier boss Chris Mack in attendance to watch him this year, and he says the Musketeers remain in close contact.
"I have an offer from Xavier and I talk to their coaches a lot," said Sumner. "I really like their playing style."
One school that is beginning to take a closer look at Sumner is Illinois. The Big Ten school has started calling and showing more attention.
"I haven't heard from them in the past week, but their coaches have called me a few times and they seem like a good school," Sumner explained.
Upcoming he hopes to make a visit to Michigan State, and then is looking to focus on his AAU season where he will be running with The Family on the Nike circuit.
Sumner says don't look for a decision until the completion of the AAU season, and when he does make that call he knows what he will be looking for in a school.
"I am looking for a school where I can get a good education as well as play in a big time basketball program," said Sumner. "I like to play fast, so I am looking for a school with a fast style of play."
