Anderson garnering major interest

Wing C.J. Anderson is a very talented player who is looking forward to having a big spring and summer on the AAU circuit.

The city of Memphis is absolutely loaded in the class of 2014 and one of the best in the city is Whitehaven High School standout C.J. Anderson. The athletic swingman is pulling in college interest and had an excellent junior season.

At 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds, Anderson has athleticism and the ability to score going to the rim or from deep. Overall he feels he put together a strong year.

"I think I did good, but I could have done better," said Anderson. "This was a great year for us, and we have most of our players back for next year so we should be even better next year."

Recruiting wise several schools are really beginning to turn up the heat on Anderson.

"Right now the teams that have been calling me have been VCU, Ole Miss, Massachusetts, George Mason, Denver, Colorado, and also Cincinnati, Kansas State, and Miami have contacted me some," noted Anderson.

The Ole Miss Rebels had a strong year, and that is something that Anderson took definite notice of.

"I like Ole Miss' style of play," said Anderson. "You can tell as a team they progressed a lot this year. I like the way they play, they have a lot of heart. Also I think they can get guys in the NBA, and it is a school I am very interested in."

Another school that has been very active recruiting Anderson is VCU. The Rams employ their up tempo attack and that is something that Anderson is very comfortable with.

"When I see them it reminds me of Team Thad because they play the same way we do," explained Anderson. "That is the style I am comfortable playing in and it is the style I would like to play. I hear from VCU like every other day."

For now Anderson is focused on getting better and the summer with Team Thad on the AAU circuit. Anderson has high expectations for a team that is considered one of the best in the country.

"This summer for my team we just want to have an ever better season than we did last year," said Anderson. "We gained a few players and we will be stronger and longer with more depth. I think we should contend for No. 1 in the nation as a team."
