Griffin picks Rutgers

Chris Griffin pledged to Rutgers on Monday giving them their third commitment of the 2013 class.

Rutgers added a Junior College standout to their 2013 recruiting class on Monday.

Chris Griffin, of Wabash Valley College, committed to Rutgers over strong interest from Auburn and a host of other schools. Griffin's former coach Christopher Ayers confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"Coach [Mike] Rice and [David] Cox did a great job recruiting him and were honest," Ayers said. "Told him about the pros and cons of playing for him. Told him they were going to push him to the max and that's what he wanted from a coach."

According to Ayers, Griffin, a 6-foot-7 forward, is a versatile player.

"He's a wing player that can play multiple positions," Ayers said. "He can score from all levels of the floor. Has a great feel for the game an he's very unselfish. He can defend the two through four positions. Great kid with a great personality."

Griffin is Rutgers third commitment of the 2013 class. He joins three-star guard Shane Rector and fellow Junior College recruit Craig Brown.
