Two Stand Out For Sweeney

Iziahiah Sweeney, a promising junior shooting guard from Southern California, has two West Coast programs at the top of his list...

Iziahiah Sweeney, 6-2 JR SG Compton (Calif.) High, is a terrific athlete and a promising prospect. I spoke with Sweeney recently and he gave us a list of schools that have been in touch with him.

"San Diego, Gonzaga, UCLA, Nevada and Utah State have been the ones that have been in contact with me all the time," said Sweeney."

I asked Sweeney if any schools stand out for him at this time.

"I like San Diego and Gonzaga right now," said Sweeney.

When asked if he has a feel for which school is recruiting him the hardest, Sweeney replied, "Gonzaga. I talk with Coach Daniels a lot."

Sweeney talked a little about the issues he will consider when choosing a school.

"I'm looking for someplace that I'll be comfortable on and off the court," said Sweeney. "I want to have a good relationship with the coaching staff. I'd like to stay on the West Coast. As far as early playing time, that's not too important. I just want to have an opportunity."

Sweeney has been to the UCLA and LMU campuses and says he will likely take some unofficial visits in the future.

"I plan on visiting San Diego and Gonzaga," said Sweeney.

Sweeney isn't planning on making a decision any time soon.

"I want to go through the summer and then decide sometime before my senior season," said Sweeney. Sweeney said he will play for Cal Supreme in the spring and summer.
