adidas Exclusive Run: Day One

DUNCANVILLE, Tex. -- The adidas Exclusive Run tipped off at the Duncanville Fieldhouse on Friday. Among the standouts were a pair of 2014 wings -- Andre Chatfield and Brandone Francis -- as well a handful of underclassmen.

Andre Chatfield, SG, Atlanta Celtics – One of the breakout performers of the day was this 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard out of Norcross (Ga.) High. Chatfield, who has wide shoulder and a long set of arms, hit a pair of mid-range pull-ups early against the WI Playground Warriors. Then he hit a pair of three-pointers late, including the game winner off the dribble. He's a 4.1 student and was a key player on a state championship team this past year.

Brandone Francis, SF, Florida Elite – Francis helped Florida Elite knock off a talented Dream Vision squad. He stood out because of his skill set and ability to pass the ball. Francis spent time on the ball in the second half and was quite effective. He made good decisions, found open teammates and worked in buckets at the rim. Francis also worked in one long-range jumper.

Kaiser Gates, SF, Atlanta Celtics – A wiry 6-foot-6 wing prospect, Gates, a standout at Alpharetta (Ga.) St. Francis, shot the ball with confidence in a late night win. Gates hit three three-pointers, including two coming off of curls. He has a quick release and showed good range. He also mixed it up for rebounds and had a pair of put backs.

Stephen Zimmerman, C, Dream Vision – Although his squad struggled in a loss to Florida Elite, Zimmerman showed flashes of what he can do, especially on the offensive end. The 7-footer out of Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman has great touch around the basket and even dropped in a pair of mid-range jump shots. Zimmerman also showed off his skill level, when he pushed a rebound the length of the floor and dropped off a sweet dish in traffic.

Kobi Simmons, PG/SG, Atlanta Celtics – Last week playing in a younger age group, Simmons played off the ball. This time around playing up in the 17's division he handled the point guard duties and it was impressive. The 6-foot-4 guard has impressive ball skills, tremendous vision and found ways to get his teammates open looks. The Celtics didn't make their run until Simmons began playing with the ball in his hands.

Braxton Blackwell, SF, Atlanta Celtics – A big, strong guard Blackwell has an impressive looking frame for a freshman. He stands 6-foot-6 and is equipped with a pair of long arms and strong shoulders. Blackwell is skilled and played some with the ball in his hand, but also spent time on the perimeter attacking the basket. He's a pretty good athlete that scored it well around the basket. He's also a talented passer that has a very good feel for the game.

*WI Playground Warrior guard Cameron Ward made play after play against the Celtics. He got hot from long range and pumped in a number of three-pointers. He also found his way to the free throw line and had a few crafty finishes at the rim.

*Dante Buford played with energy inside for Florida Elite. An undersized power forward, Buford used his athleticism to reel in rebounds. He also dropped in a few finishes with his right hand.

*Brandon Francis said he has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Rutgers, Illinois, Kansas State, Washington, Missouri and South Carolina. He also mentioned interest from Indiana, Florida, SMU, Minnesota and Georgia. He's visited Florida.

*Andre Chatfield has scholarship offers from Mississippi State and Auburn. He also cited interest from Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Stanford and Yale.
