Rector pledges to Missouri

Combo guard Shane Rector made his college choice on Saturday. Shortly after a visit to Columbia (Mo.), Rector opted for the Missouri Tigers.

Shane Rector pledged to Missouri on Saturday.

"I just felt it was the best fit," Rector told "The team is good. They have a good coaching staff and coach [Frank] Haith will make me better."

Rector, a 6-foot-1 combination guard, had plenty of options when he opted out of his commitment to Rutgers, but he said his decision came down to Missouri, Texas A&M, Butler and Minnesota.

"It was the visit," Rector said when asked what set Missouri over the top. "It was nice.

"I feel like they wanted me to go there and I feel like I can continue to get better there," Rector added.

As a senior at South Kent (Conn.) School, Rector went for 19 points and six assists a game. Rector said Missouri will likely pair him with incoming guard Wes Clark on the court.

"[Coach Haith] likes to play two guards," Rector said. "They'll play me and Wes [Clark] together."

To go with Rector, Missouri also holds commitments from Clark, Torren Jones and four-star power forward Johnathan Williams.
