Ellis will play in Big Ten

After a de-commitment from Minnesota, Alvin Ellis decided to commit to Michigan State.

The plan has always been for Alvin Ellis to play in the Big Ten. The Chicago (Ill) De La Salle wing originally signed with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However with the dismissal of Tubby Smith, Ellis decided to look at all of his options.

From the moment he got his release, the rumors were he wanted to attend Michigan State. The Spartans have long had a presence in Chicago, and after making an official visit to the school, his signing was announced by the school on Wednesday.

Ellis, who is a 6-foot-4, is a high level athlete who is at his best going to the rim and finishing. Also Ellis is a high level defender who gives maximum effort on every possession.

This is the second signee for the Spartans in the class. He joins fellow late pledge Gavin Schilling.
