Wichita State uses run to reel in recruit

Wichita State scored a commitment from 2104 prospect Zach Brown. He committed to the Shockers over the weekend.

Wichita State utilized their Final Four run to reel in a 2014 recruit over the weekend.

Zach Brown, of South Kent (Conn.) School, committed to Gregg Marshall and his staff over interest from a host of schools, including Creighton, Providence, Washington and others.

"It played a big part," he said of Wichita State's appearance in the Final Four. "Knowing that they can actually win helped me with the recruiting process too and it's going to help them with other people and help them get an even better class than they are recruiting."

Brown said he's developed a strong connection with Marshall and he was drawn to the type of rapport he builds with his players.

"The coaching staff and how good of a relationship I have with them and how great of people they are," he said when asked about his decision. "The players are really good and they are a growing basketball school. Really the community that they have everyone is really supportive of them.

"Just how great of a coach he is," Brown added. "He really has only had one losing season. He's just a winner and the relationship that he has with his players is unbelievable."

Brown said the Wichita State coaches told him he would replace Cleanthony Early at the three spot.
