Johnson pulling in offers

Three-star power forward Jaylen Johnson is having an excellent spring, and now the Michigan native is pulling in numerous scholarship offers.

The scholarship offers are beginning to pile up Ypsilanti (Mich) standout Jaylen Johnson. The 6-foot-8 power forward is having a good run of things this spring with Dorian's Pride, and college coaches are really taking notice.

"The spring is going good," said Johnson. "I am being more aggressive and doing everything I can to help my team win games."

With his combination of long arms, good athleticism, high level passing ability, and developing strength, Johnson has really opened up eyes with his play and he says he is only planning on working harder the rest of the summer.

"I have been working on my jump shot, blocking shots, my timing, and being stronger going up with the ball," said Johnson.

According to Dorian's Pride AAU director Christian Vaughn-Dawkins, Johnson has scholarship offers from Florida State, Maryland, Cincinnati, Miami, Oregon, Iowa State, Arizona State, Texas A&M, VCU, and USC. Also interest is coming in from Michigan State, Michigan, UNLV, Xavier, Memphis, and Arizona.

Neither in-state program has offered Johnson yet, but he does know about both Michigan and Michigan State and says it is an honor to hear from each program.

"I don't know how to explain it, but it is a great thing," said Johnson of the in-state interest. "Obviously both of them are great programs."

For now there is no timeframe at all for Johnson in terms of making his decision. Instead he is simply focused on getting better and improving his all-around game.

"I am getting stronger and working on my jump shot as well as attacking the basket," said Johnson.

Currently Johnson is a three-star prospect and someone whose best basketball looks to be ahead of him.
