Chiozza to do the Gator Chomp

Four-star point guard Chris Chiozza has made his choice and he is headed to the SEC.

Virtually no player in the country has had a bigger spring than Memphis (Tenn) White Station guard Chris Chiozza. The 5-foot-10 floor general has been a dominant force on the AAU circuit all spring long, and on Tuesday evening he made his pick.

Playing with Team Thad in April, Chiozza was a very popular target. Coaches from all over the country came to check out Chiozza and none of them left without being impressed. Schools such as Florida, Ohio State, Memphis, Tennessee, USC, Auburn, Butler, Arkansas, and others all extended scholarship offers to Chiozza.

However after a short deliberation process, Chiozza knew where he wanted to go and at his school on Tuesday made his announcement of Florida.

According to Team Thad AAU Coach Norton Hurd, the decision was one he took seriously, and the Gators just had a lot going for them.

"They have a Hall of Fame coach, a great style of play, and the system fits him perfectly," Hurd explained. "Also Florida did a good job of believing in him early and it was a dream school for him. It has always been a school that he has enjoyed watching."

Florida brought in one of the best point guards in the class of 2013 in Kasey Hill, but Hurd says that isn't a problem, and it is actually something that could benefit Chiozza and Florida.

"With them using two point guards these days I think Chris can have a big impact right away," said Hurd. "I think if he isn't a one and done he and Kasey can play a lot together. I am not sure you could find a better point guard tandem in the country than Chris and Kasey Hill."

Currently Chiozza is ranked as the No. 96 player in the country and the No. 22 point guard, but look for that to improve quite a bit the next time that the rankings are updated.
