Plenty Of Options For Fitzner

Evan Fitzner, one of the better shooting big men in the west for 2014, gives us his latest thoughts on his recruitment...

Evan Fitzner, 6-9 JR PF San Diego (Calif.) Francis Parker, is a sharp-shooting face up four man with range beyond the stripe. Fitzner needs to get stronger and become more comfortable inside, but he's definitely a player that can stretch a defense.

I spoke with Fitzner recently and he gave me a list of schools that are recruiting him.

"Cal, Stanford, Colorado, Washington, Arizona State, Oregon State, New Mexico and Boston College," said Fitzner.

When asked which schools have offered, Fitzner replied, "Cal, Colorado, Arizona State, Oregon State and New Mexico."

I asked Fitzner if he has a feel for which programs have been recruiting him the hardest.

"I had an in-home with Colorado and Coach Montgomery from Cal has been showing a lot of interest," said Fitzner. "I have been hearing a lot from Oregon State and Arizona State."

I asked Fitzner about the factors he will consider when choosing a school.

"A coaching staff that can develop me," said Fitzner. "I'll also look at the players they are getting and how I fit in with them. Also someplace that is a good academic fit for me. The location doesn't matter too much."

Fitzner has been on unofficial visits to Cal and Stanford, with more visits planned.

"I go to Stanford for their one day camp on June 15th – my Dad went to Stanford," said Fitzner. "I'm going to Cal either next weekend or on the 14th. And I want to check out Colorado."

Fitzner said he has a 3.0 GPA.
