Three Stand Out For Watson

Devin Watson, a prolific scoring lead guard from San Diego, says three schools have been on him particularly hard...

Devin Watson, 6-0 JR PG Carlsbad (Calif.) Army Navy, is a scoring lead guard with deep range and a quick release. He's much more comfortable scoring than he is in creating for others, but he's a talented scorer with good quickness.

I spoke with Watson recently about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"Oregon State, San Diego and UTEP have offered," said Watson. "I'm also hearing from Santa Clara and Weber St."

I asked Watson what factors he'll consider when choosing a school.

"The coach as well as the players they have," said Watson. "I'm really looking for just the best fit. It's always good to stay close to home, but it will really be about the best fit."

I asked Watson if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

"Oregon State, San Diego and UTEP," said Watson.

When asked about possible visits he might take, Watson said, "I'll probably go after July, possibly to all three that have offered."

Watson said he has a 3.0 GPA.
